Hamilton Soccer welcomes new Match Officials each season and offers certification opportunities for individuals interested in becoming referees.
Officiating is a great way to:

Available Certification Programs
Entry Level Referee
For:
Program Includes:
- Online learning modules through Canada Soccer
- Classroom instruction through Ontario Soccer
- Practical on-field training through Ontario Soccer
- Certification through Ontario Soccer and Canada Soccer
Eligibility:
- Must be at least 14 years old
Small-Sided Match Official
For:
Program Includes:
- Online education modules
- Practical field training
- Small-Sided Game certification
Eligibility:
- Must be at least 12 years old
Game Leader
For:
- U8 and U9 soccer programs
Program Includes:
- Online Game Leader education
- Development-focused training
Eligibility:
- Must be at least 12 years old
Course Registration
Clinics are closed for the season. Please check back in February 2027.
Important:
- Completion of all online modules is mandatory prior to attending the in-class and practical sessions.
- 100% Attendance at practical sessions is required - no exceptions.
- Space may be limited.
Registration Process
Step 1: Register for the appropriate certification course.
Step 2: Complete required online learning modules.
Step 3: Attend the practical training session.
Step 4: Receive certification and begin officiating assignments.
